Cornhole: The Movie is a mockumetary feature film that examines the lives of four groups of quirky characters who have sacrificed, exploited, and shamed those in their lives to gain a certain level of minimal fame in the Cincinnati based sport of Cornhole. Cornhole, in the movie, is supported by a fine cast of characters including a "knocked-up" conniving Jewish Princess, a Mafioso misfit, breeding bounty hunters, and passionate Cuban exiles. All battling it out to win the coveted Bronze Sack. Each bag they toss brings them closer to personal victory and draws the audience deeper into the wacky world of competitive Cornhole.

The actual story behind the film begins like this....a mother made her son a cornhole set that turned out to be a big hit when he took it tailgating in Pittsburgh.  A newspaper article was written the next week when a half dozen tailgaters showed up with their freshly made cornhole boards.  The article would up on the producers desk in Los Angeles and they saw the beginning of a sporting phenomenon.

They quickly found the next event and went to the Cincinnati for the Easter Seals Tournament in Eden Park.  They found Frank Geers and the American Cornhole Organization all ready set up.  Wildly passionate about the spot, Frank would soon become a driving force in making "Cornhole: The Movie" a reality.  Add to that the rabid fan base and they knew we were in the middle of something special.

This film had to be made.  Jacquie Loughery, of Dare to Dream Casting, did most of the casting with Acting in Columbus Instructor, Richard Mason, providing additional casting.  Acting in Columbus alumni (pictured) populate the supporting cast in this made in Ohio production.

May 7, 2010 was the coming out party for this soon to be popular movie. The game have its Premier Film Debut across the bridge from Cincinnati in Covington, KY at the Madison Theatre. From there Syracuse, NY will be the next film launch, with a final stop in Chicago. Requests for Cornhole the Movie DVDs have already started to roll in. Game On!

How to choose a monologue

Most auditors will want you to perform two monologues, of contrasting character, for a total of two to four minutes. Choose monologues from characters that are closest to your experiences and age. Do not choose a monologue with violent behavior patterns and vulgarity. The auditors do not want to hear or see such a monologue. Show them talent, not a violent temper tantrum. Use your own judgement when it comes to content of a monologue. Would you like to sit in their place and watch you perform this monologue?

CRAFT NOTES by Ed Hooks

"Wherefore Performance Capture?"

The box office success of James Cameron’s Avatar has caused Hollywood to roll its big guns into battle position.  The looming war is about the implications of performance capture technology for members of Screen Actors Guild.  Avatar, the highest grossing and most expensive movie in Hollywood history, received nine Academy Award nominations, including best picture and best director, but zero for its cast of actors.   How could it be the best picture and have the best director unless the actors were doing noteworthy work, too? On the other hand, how much of a digital character is the actor and how much is the work of computer geniuses.  Could Avatar possibly predict that actors are on their way to becoming optional in the movie-making process?
